Ann sent this today, Saturday 31 December 1998. Here are some other news bits: 1) As you can guess, they were wearing their helmets at the time of the collision. 2) Bruce W. just spoke with Ann on the phone. She said Kent is in substantial pain because they just set his broken wrist. Bruce didn't know whether surgery was still being considered. 3) The David and Wendy Mark, the missionaries in Mexico City with whom Ann & Kent spent Christmas, are on this list also and should have the news if they are receiving their email. -- Phil ------------- Hello friends and family! Hopefully you have received the preliminary information about our accident as told to our parents and sent to Phil. A doctor has offered to mail this for us. We are recovering in a fine hospital in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, where we are receiving good care. Kent has a broken left wrist, trauma to his neck and a very abraded face. I have tight back muscles which make it hard to move. We hope to continue riding in 6-8 weeks to give Kent's wrist a chance to heal. We still don't know the status of our bike which is being held by the Red Cross in Cintalapa. I will go to get it because I will probably be released before Kent. Hopefully no major unrepairable damage has occurred. Re: the accident, we suspect we were run off the road purposefully but since we both lost consciousness our memories are quite sketchy. Any way it was a hit and run and we don't know the chances of tracking down the culprit. We'll let you know ASAP. Any mail please send to Kent's parents until 2-13-98 as they will meet us in Guatemala on the 14th for a planned vacation. c/o Roddie & Dave Stelle 6391 Hillside Dr. El Sobrante, CA 94564 Afterward mail goes to Ann's folks in Arizona. We appreciate your prayers and thoughts. Love, Ann & Kent
